Melbourne City Ballet

The enchantment will spread far and wide when Melbourne City Ballet tour to Gladstone with A Midsummer Night’s Dream on 16th August 2017.  Whilst audiences will be treated to this Shakespearean classic, a small number of young Gladstone dancers will have the chance to take part in this wonderful production.

Melbourne City Ballet’s own Company Artists will be holding a special workshop at Pipe and Thistle Band Hall, 25 Dawson Road at 2pm – 4pm16 August to select young dancers for this special event!

This workshop will start with a classical ballet class before MCB’s Artists teach choreography from the performance! Open to all young dancers between the ages of 10 and 14 years. Those who attend the workshop receive a large discount to see the show that evening!

To register, please talk to your dance teacher or contact the GECC directly.

Gladstone is gearing up to put on our first ever Children’s Festival – and we need support!

Eight days of fun, entertainment, theatre shows, events, activities and workshops are planned to ignite the imagination, play and fun in our local children.  There is also a focus on positive parenting and childhood services available in our region.

The Gladstone Entertainment Convention Centre is working closely with the Library, Communities for Children, Department of Education and Training, Tondoon Botanical Gardens, Autism QLD and other local groups to bring an amazing program of free and affordable activities to town.  But we need your help!

We are calling for “Friends of the Children’s Festival” to volunteer time and skills to help us deliver on our programs and some workshops.   It is completely up to you how much time you offer us. We have a range of workshops and events that will need support from Sunday May 21st to Sunday May 28th.  You will need a blue card to help, as this is part of our policy!

If you are interested, please send an email with your contact details (and any details on your availability if you know them) to:

Teresa Vella – Public Programs Officer

Or phone the GECC box office on 4972 2822.

Teresa will send you a list of roles we need filled for your consideration.

Thank you.
